The Milken Institute School of Public Health is one of the few schools in the country to offer a comprehensive undergraduate program in public health. Taking advantage of our close connection to the public health graduate school and the greater GW community, we are able to offer our students courses in all of the core areas of public health as well as provide a wide variety of electives.  Our undergraduate students receive excellent instruction and are taught by many of the same professors who teach our Masters and Doctoral candidates. Most of our students take advantage of the many opportunities DC has to offer by participating in internships and programs at places such as the CDC, USAID, DC Department of Health, National Association of Community Health Centers, Medicare Rights Center, and so many more.  Upon graduating from our program, our students are able to launch their careers in any aspect of public health. Whether you are interested in policy, epidemiology, international public health, becoming a health care provider or so many other career options, public health can give you the education you need for the career you want.

Bachelor of Science in Public Health

BS in Public Health

The BS in Public Health is an undergraduate major that covers all the core areas of public health, taught in the liberal arts tradition that values the mastery of strong writing, critical thinking, and analysis skill.

Joint Public Health BS/MPH

The joint BS/MPH program allows students to earn their BS and Masters in Public Health in a compressed timeframe. Students learn about public health from a liberal arts perspective through the BS program and gain targeted knowledge and prepare to be a public health professional in the masters program.

Minor in Public Health

The minor in public health is an 18-credit option that allows students to complement their chosen major with a broad understanding of public health. Given the wide reach of public health topics, students from many schools and majors within GW find the minor in public health to be a worthwhile addition to their studies.
